Honesty and respect are important to us. In our latest IT Expert tip Article, we share some predictions for the future of IT. There are many exciting advances in the world of technology to look forward to. From advances in automation to strengthening analytics, future leaders have a lot to gain with technological improvements in the upcoming years. But what does that really mean? At Burnt Orange IT Solutions, we discuss two predictions for the future of IT and how it may affect your business.
“It’s in the cloud”
The above is most likely a phrase you have heard in the office, among friends or even quoted in movies/TV shows. One thing for certain is that the cloud is not going anywhere in the future of IT. A prediction was made that by the year 2030, “98 per cent of business data will be stored in the cloud rather than traditional company data centres.” In a previous blog, we explained what ‘the cloud’ is and its purpose. To summarize it is a service that you cannot physically touch but it means to use someone else’s hardware or software to achieve an outcome, for example storing data.
An unlimited amount of data can be stored in the cloud and makes it very convenient for employees to access documents from any device and any location. More employees are continuing to work from home and will do so in the future, allowing much easier access to documents when it is all linked to the cloud.

Innovations Using Augmented Reality
Augmented or Virtual Reality can take on many forms and companies are looking to the technology to cut costs and improve efficiencies while presenting offerings that may not be available otherwise. A Saskatoon tech start-up presented virtual reality headsets as a clinical simulator to perform assessments on patients with dementia. This was not only a more affordable option, as it was also a readily available alternative than performing a full examination.
Employee training for some businesses will also turn to augmented reality which is another prediction for the future of IT. This is a great cost-effective investment for new hires or for current employees to enhance their skill set in an efficient and flexible manner while utilizing the technology available.
